HOW TO JUICE DETOX YOUR WAY THROUGH A GLOBAL PANDEMIC
Brunch with the girls, sipping cocktails in your favourite bar and pilates classes at the gym are all on hold for the next four weeks as Lockdown 2.0 comes into force.
Picture the scene... you're knee deep into rewatching your Sex And The City boxset or Gossip Girl on Netflix, you've not worn 'proper' clothes for weeks (apart from maybe a nice top for work Zoom calls), and the only other person you've had contact with outside of your household is the Deliveroo driver. Sound familiar?
This might have been the way you spent the first lockdown (we feel you - we spent a lot of time looking for ANY clues that Dan was Gossip Girl. We're still shook), but why not shake things up again this time around? Read on to see how you can juice detox your way through this global pandemic...
WHAT TO DO BEFORE YOU START YOUR JUICE DETOX
1. Water is your new BFF
Make sure you're staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water in the days up to your juice detox. Alcohol is a no-no before detoxing too.
2. Cut down on caffeine
We love a vanilla latte as much as the next person, but it's time to wave bye-bye (at least for the time being). If you really need that caffeine fix, switch to low-acid, cold brew coffee or matcha green tea - delicious too!
3. Stop your consumption of animal products
So no meat or dairy in the days leading up to your juice detox - try to stick to a plant-based diet as much as possible.
4. Say no to processed foods
If you can't pronounce the ingredient on the packaging, it's probably best to avoid it.
5. Choose the right juice detox for you.

HOW TO CARRY OUT YOUR JUICE DETOX
1. Consistency is key.
Drink a juice around every two hours, and keep drinking lots of water between juices.
2. Take it easy
HIIT workouts and other high intensity exercise should take a backseat during your juice detox as you can start to feel lightheaded and tired a lot easier. If you really fancy a workout, try low intensity yoga, stretching or a short walk.
3. Expect to crave the chewing sensation
It's really common to feel like you need to chew on something when you're doing a juice detox. Do something to distract yourself and it will go away! If you do feel like you have to do something, snack on a small handful of nuts or a piece of fruit.
WHAT TO DO POST JUICE DETOX
1. Don't rush
For the first few days, stick to eating lots of fruit and veggies and try to eat small portions so you don't overwhelm your digestive system. Steer clear of red meat, dairy products, alcohol and foods that have been processed or fried.
2. Keep up the good work
Don't just go back to ordering your favourite takeaway - try to stick to eating healthily and maintain other healthy habits like drinking loads of water!
3. Chew your food thoroughly
Make sure you chew all of your food thoroughly so your body can easily digest it - your digestive system has been out of action during your detox so try and make things easier for it!
